I'm really proud of how the lamp came out. Less proud of the skull. I could use some tips on texturing as well as some creative inspiration. It's hard feeling inspired when I don't have access to in-person classes and creative environments.
I think you're project is coming along really well. Have you thought about maybe using different brush tools on your skull to create texture?
making an assumption here, definitely correct me if I am wrong... do you feel the composition feels unbalanced and that is why you feel it needs texture? Just a thought, what if you adding a gradient using the mesh tool giving the skull more definition? Since skulls are typically smooth and even sometimes porous adding texture might be difficult. I am not sure if you can use the mess tool over the traced image, but you could always build up with another layer.
If you ever would like to collaborate I’d be happy too! My friends and I used zoom and I would share my screen and just watch me paint haha. But I could show you some ways to add more dimension and texture, different paint tools, using more levels of grey, and higher contrast could all help. My email is newsomemg1@appstate.edu, if you want to collab:)
Hey Maya! I think this is a really interesting and cool concept. I'm glad that you were able to incorporate the skull into the end produce of the piece! I think one think that would really tie the two main elements together would be to have light coming out of the open skull's mouth. That would really get the point of the lamp across to me. Overall this is a really cool combination!

I hope this helps!

It does look a bit unbalanced in terms of light to dark ratio. I'll definitely try the mesh tool although I haven't really gotten the hang of it yet.

That sounds helpful! I'll definitely take you up on that.
